Greens across the country are setting into the serious business of dealing with the issues facing local councils after major wins that have strenghthened the Green voice in places from Bristol to Norwich. Greens gained most in Brighton and Hove where a gain of 10 seats puts the Greens in a controlling position with 23 seats. Closer to home gains in the South Hams as well as another seat in Bristol shows a growing Party in the region.
Exeter had a full slate of 13 Green Party candidates in the city and increased the number of votes for the Greens across the city.
"We are encouraged by the significant rise of votes in some areas..." said Audaye Elesedy, Chair of Exeter Green Party, going on to say, "The speedy rise of a Green voice in other parts of the UK is inspirational to Greens in the South West and is going to deepen resolve to work harder at local levels across the region. With an increasing vote share across the city and people demontrating a real desire for a Green voice in politics all over the country we are really committed to delivering that."
